Privacy Policy

PadelTap keeps the score of a padel match on your Apple Watch and displays your match history and analytics on your iPhone. It has no third-party advertising, no tracking, and no data brokers. This policy explains plainly what data exists, why, and how you control it.
Who is responsible for your data
PadelTap ("PadelTap", "we", "us") is the entity responsible for the services and data described on this page. If you have questions about your data or wish to exercise your privacy rights, email support@padeltap.app.
What we collect and why
1. Your Account & Match Backup
PadelTap uses an account so your match history survives switching to a new iPhone or restoring your Apple Watch:
- Sign-in identifier: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email and unique user identifier. Apple's Private Relay email is fully supported.
- Match records: The date, duration, court/club name, scores (sets, games, point-by-point log), player names, and any notes you enter.
- Storage: Backed up securely to our database with row-level security (RLS), meaning only your authenticated account can ever read or write your matches.
2. Apple Watch HealthKit Data
To provide hands-free scorekeeping on court, PadelTap requests access to Apple HealthKit:
- Workout Session: The app runs an
HKWorkoutSessionto keep your Apple Watch display awake while you score a match mid-rally, preventing unwanted screen lockouts. - Biometrics and movement: During play, it reads heart rate and active calories, and uses the watch's motion sensors (with the Motion & Fitness permission) to count steps, distance covered and — when you wear the watch on your racket arm — swings. These show point by point in your match recap. Matches are recorded to Apple Health as tennis workouts, because HealthKit has no padel type.
- Strict Isolation: Your health and movement data is stored privately with your account. It is never shared with third parties, never shown to spectators, never used for advertising, and never sold.
3. Crash and Diagnostic Data
When the app encounters a crash or hang, Apple's MetricKit records diagnostic technical logs on your device. These logs contain call stacks, iOS/watchOS versions, and device model, sent without your account ID and without match details, solely to diagnose and resolve software bugs.
4. Sharing a Match
Sharing is optional and only starts when you tap Share on your iPhone. If you never share a match, nothing about it is published.
- What spectators see: the score (sets, games, the current point, who is serving, playing time, and whether the match is paused or finished), plus any names, club and court you added to that match. If you are signed in and your sign-in provider gave us your name, your first name appears beside your partner's. Sides with no names show as "Team 1" and "Team 2" — we never make names up.
- Who can see it: anyone holding the match's 4-character code, its link or its QR code. Codes are generated by our server, cannot be listed or browsed, and stop working 48 hours after the match was last updated. Anyone you give a code to can pass it on.
- Never shown: your email address, account details, notes, location, or any heart rate, calorie, step, distance, swing or other health data.
- Teammates joining on Apple Watch: a player who enters the code in PadelTap on their watch follows the score and keeps their own copy of the match in their own account, with whatever their own watch recorded. That copy is private to them, like any match they score themselves.
- Storage: the shared score is held by our hosting provider, Supabase, against a random share identifier rather than your account. Live updates are sent as broadcasts and are not stored; one record is kept so the code still shows the result after the match. To have a shared record deleted sooner, email support@padeltap.app with its code.
What we never do
- We never sell or monetize your data.
- We do not display third-party advertisements.
- We do not track your location or use cross-app tracking IDs.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can permanently delete your PadelTap account and all associated match records, notes, and health data directly in the app via Settings → Delete Account. You can also visit our Data Deletion page or email support@padeltap.app.
